Dr. Cole Staines pediatric dentist

Meet Dr. Cole

Cole A. Staines, DDS, MSD is a board eligible pediatric dentist from Buffalo, NY. He received a B.S. in biology from SUNY at Buffalo in 2012. He received his DDS from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2017. In dental school, he was fortunate to receive excellent educational and clinical experiences in pediatric dentistry, which confirmed his interest to pursue it as a specialty.

He went on to further his training at Virginia Commonwealth University to specialize in pediatric dentistry. There he received both a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master of Science in Dentistry in 2019, while acting as chief resident during his second year of training. Due to his interest in treating patients with special health care needs, he also completed the VA-LEND program (Virginia Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) and received a post baccalaureate certificate in disability leadership. This unique training allowed him to learn firsthand about the lived of families/caregivers of children with SHCN though a family mentorship experience.

During his training, Dr. Cole enjoyed helping out with dental outreach. He has been fortunate enough to go on multiple dental mission trips in the US and two international dental mission trips to provide free dental care. As a dental student he went to San Francisco de Macorís, Dominican Republic. As a resident he went to Trelawney, Jamaica where he primarily treated children. One of the best things about being a dentist is being able to give back and to provide services to help those in need.

Dr. Cole is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, South Carolina Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and South Carolina Dental Association. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society in 2017.

After living in cold Buffalo for the bulk of his life and Richmond for a couple years, he is excited to move even further south and “thaw-out” a bit more. He is excited about this new opportunity to explore and to practice dentistry in such a beautiful area. He is looking forward to meeting new friends and working with the amazing families and children in upstate South Carolina.
